Sylhet Government Pilot High School is a reputed ancient educational institution. The educational institution was established in 1837 on the initiative of the British government. At that time Lord Benting laid the foundation stone of the school in 1838 with the aim of educating the students in English. The school was later relocated to the present Kalighat due to an earthquake.
Sylhet Government Pilot High School is located at Dakbanglo Road, Kalighat, Sylhet. The education system of the educational institution has been well managed through the headmaster of the educational institution Md. Kabir Khan and two assistant headmasters.
The academy has been run with a head teacher and 55 teachers and the students are benefiting from their skills and are interested in achieving good results in real life as well as in various career oriented areas. Since 1991, two shifts have been arranged in this school.
One is the morning shift and the other is the day shift. The current number of students in Sylhet Government Pilot High School is 220.
